I know you must be experiencing this slowness as well. Well yup I am making a complain and not just because it is today that the forum is loading SO damn slow. It happens everyday to me. I have hardly come to DP recently, only because of this slow over loaded server. I cant browse, it takes me a minute to load a page sometimes and gets very irritating in browsing. Obviously?

I have been a member since 2006 and I used to say that when I had joined or even in 2007 and 2008 begining the site used to run SO damn fast, i mean extremely fast, but everything has ruined since months or even a year.

The site has been like this slow since a LONG time now. I think it is about time to make a complain. It doesnt matter if it happens in peak time or a few days. It happens everytime I login that its slow.

Moreover, you read a PM and then refresh, the PM still shows unread and you get pop up notification at every page you browse for sometime till its refreshed and pm appears to be read

I could easily make this thread in Help/Suggestions but there are threads like this already and it gets locked immediately without any views of any other person.

Now I am not showing any hatred or whining about it. I am only requesting you to fix this issue so I CAN browse the site as much as I used to before. I can hardly post or browse. I nearly stopped coming to DP, visit, check your PMs SOMEHOW and then close it, because if you do browse a bit more time, you feel like throwing your modem out of the window lol, it goes so slow :p

How to fix it? Let us all give our secret tips to fix it haha. Anyway, its not worth it but, since the problem is unfixed since a long time, we gotta do something to protect our lovely community

I want to know if even USA people experience slowness? It could be some issue as in Ram usage? Server is overloaded for sure.

1 Tip - If we are still using Apache, then why not migrate to a light web server Nginx? Nginx is the lighest web server and amazing! It will magically make the site way TOO FAST.

Check out the amazing Nginx thread : - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253741

It processes 10 times more HTTP requests in 10 times faster, benchmark tests are in that thread.

I dunno maybe we arent using apache, I have no idea how to check anyway.

So what do others have to say?

I am also annoyed with a laggy browsing on DP.... I got a 256kbps connection, so i couldnt browse thru DP with some downloading on.... It just displays network time out in most of the clicks.

256 is enough to browse fast and I know that this forum WAS amazingly fast sometime back, if the traffic has increased, then the hardware upgrades is important, and maybe ways to monetise the load? shifting to ligher web server? anyways

I'm sure members could donate money for more servers etc. to fix the problem but it just seems like there is no admin dedicated enough to bother with implementation. I only say this because it seems to be an ongoing issue and there is no obvious progess being made.

Where oh where is thou Shaun.

It has slowed a little recently, but hopefully it's just a blip and not something that'll we'll frequently have to worry about.

Members will donate to help fix the issue if Shawn comes up and says that upgrade is needed and it costs this/that much. But i think Shawn earns enough money to fix it before and then look for donations. If a site brings you revenue from the ads more than it costs, you still make profit and till date I am sure that profit is made enough to cover up upgrade costs.

But this issue is never fixed and ongoing since a long time, so maybe he hasnt bothered to look into it, a busy life? But blindly neglecting it for ages isnt a good thing.

Or maybe if any work is going on, we could see some announcement as to work is going on to fix the issue? I doubt any care is being taken towards the issues members are facing.

And wonder what mods are doing, they also browse, arent they unhappy with this problems?

I find it extremely annoying. I want to jump in and PM someone for work, etc and the page takes 5 minutes to load, if it loads at all. Got several database errors today as well. What the heck is going on here?
