Hi everyone. i'm new here and i've just jumped into the adsense pool hoping to swim not sink. I've lots and lots about placement, colours, sizes and read alot of peoples experiences.

I started using adsense on a site which is about 95% finished. The site is about the use of computers in music performance, which includes tutorials on the software, hardware and performing and articles reviewing the latest software and hardware. Some of the articles and tutorials are on music production aswell.

I was wandering if anynody knows if this is a good, high paying niche or has ever had any sites touching on the subjects.

My other question is about the placement of the ads. What do you think?

Check this out for keyword bids. Of course you will receive less than that. It will depend on how good your site converts. If you site does not convert well, advertisers pay less and you will also get less.

hopefully i will be riding yachts on adsense with you guys sometime soon. I've got a lot of work to do yet. Started the SEO today and writing more and more articles.

It looks like google is serving up very relevent ads for me so i looking forward to getting the site up and running.

What do you guys think to the site and ad posistioning? Sorry about the double post too.

My yacht sank a few weeks ago, I now have a dinghy with one oar and a big hole.

Your sample page has no ads visible when the page is first loaded (ie 'above the fold'). I do see a blank space to the right of the paragraph 'What is a crossfader'. I would put a square ad in that space!

    Good luck.

Maybe I should start a yacht site...

Seriously, I like putting a banner, 468x60, sized ad at the top of the content section or a 728x90 ad under the logo section. And you might try adding a block ad in the middle of content.

I would also search out some of my competitors in this niche and see how they layout the page and where their ads go - this usually gives me some good ideas or tells me I am better...

thanks for the tips guys. I put a 728x90 leaderboard just below the first para graph or below the title of my content pages. No clicks yet. Hopefully see some results soon.

How long did it take you guys with your first adsense site to get up and running and start getting clicks?
