I have had a bit of experience using HootSuite for our social networking. You can post things to multiple FB/Twitter accounts at once, schedule updates, check stats, etc. We've liked it so far.

I've heard about other social media applications like SocialOomph and SpredFast-anyone care to comment on their experience with other apps?

Buffer. It allows you to schedule tweets.
HootSuite is the best though, I don't think it gets better than that.

TweetDeck is also awesome, but you should stick with HootSuite. I can't reccomend SocialOomph though, it might be perfect for some people, but I find it unpleasent :)

I've only used TweetDeck so far and it works just fine.

I want to try HootSuite for another site I'm developing though, because I've heard great things about it.

Try socialbro.com, it allows you to keep a track on your twitter followers and following.

Loyal HootSuite user here - I use it for scheduling tweets throughout the day (and night) as I've discovered that with its global reach you can have get a lot of attention (and more followers) with sharing content round-the-clock.

I've tried TweetDeck and will use it should HootSuite go down - which every few weeks it'll have a hiccup for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or two. What I don't like about TweetDeck is a lack of an easy-to-use URL shortener, which HootSuite has right there. (I constantly share links.)

For work we use Adobe Social (from Omniture), a full-strength tool, like HootSuite Pro but on steroids. I'm only now beginning to realize how much power that tool offers.

It has been a while since I've looked at SocialOomph, and a few others, but have generally found that free is what you pay for - usually these apps want the ability to post on your behalf (basically advertising to your twitter followers) and not really worth it.

I'm a HootSuite fan to boot. Also tried TweetDeck, but HootSuite is definitely the best.

I'm a student of the industry learning about social media/content marketing at school/my internship. Part of my new responsibility at my internship is managing some of our social accounts. The team I intern with (at Apple Box Studios, in PA) is very small with a small social media budget. Any insight on what the best (free/low cost) tools are for scheduling posts?? I haven't tried HootSuite yet, but am looking into it now...

HootSuite already PERFECT. I saw those big football clubs also using it, from that moment i've also migrate from TweetDeck to HootSuite.

If you want to post an images, then TweetDeck is better. For tracking, ow.ly will do.
