I am looking for an honest review. I am not intending to sell this site at anytime but when you are reviewing I would like you to give me your honest opinion as well as what you think it is worth. URL Shortener The reason I created this site was because I got tired of TinyURL, the site is very cluttered and I wanted something that was simple and pleasing to the eyes. Incase you couldn't tell I was inspired by Google's homepage and search results. I am still making improvements such as having the shortened URL automatically copy to the clipboard.
Hey Gotta say its really outstanding , i haven't seen anything this simple and easy yet With the right promotion and advertisement , it would easily beat most of this kind of sites out there . and also .. please try not to flood it with too many ads when it gets bigger and visitors use it more often ! for what it's worth , im not really sure ... not the person to ask really anyways goodluck mate !
Thanks guys. I am not really planning on adding ads. I might try and re-create something similar to what Google has with the sponsered listings below the Search box and along the right side.
Here is this DP's thread: http://ivyurl.com/80d0e3 I would like it if you could control the keyword value at end instead of some random string. Nice layout of site!
Very neat design. But I know later you will be putting ads so just be careful with the ad placement coz that might ruin your neat and simple site.
@camp185 - After I get the automatically copy to clipboard bug fixed that is going to be my next step. I figured that people would really like that so they could not only easily remember the site but for SEO as well. I am just taking this one step at a time. I really designed it for me to use and whoever else. I am going with the whole "If you build it, they will come" @real_skinner - In all honestly I haven't really decided about ads. I definitely won't be putting any on the home page. I might do a Adbrite Full page add in between the home page and landing page.
Welll after some help from fellow DPers I was able to get the automatic Copy to Clipboard feature up and running! YAY! I know. I am personally very excited. But now I am in a quandry. I want to be able to add the ability to create an alias automatically but I don't want it to clutter up my homepage and I don't want it to come from a drop down box if you click on it. Any ideas?
I have one idea and that is to put a page peeling script in the upper right hand corner of the homepage or the landing page to offer so sort of affiliate offer. Something that would rotate and that way I wouldnt' have to actually put anything on the home page. Any ideas?
^^^ that sounds good. But try and test it first before loading it live. Anyway, the site looks good. As others said, the neat look of it makes it more good looking. As far as usability, it is excellent. Though, I'm still wondering why Ivy URL? TinyURL sounds self-explainable. But yours.. hmm.. You should have pick up a term that will rightfully represent the use of the site.
very unique site. instantly asking to put ur link over there. good job! i love the neat of the layout. keep it up!
This is simply superb. I like the color theme you chosen. But I dont find automatic copy to clipboard function active. Are you still testing it?
nice job.. like the simple design.. against full page ad.. you may add text ads at the bottom, un intrusive..
@ruberr2002 Automatic copy to clipboard function is working for me. What browser are you currently using? @DewBerry - I chose IvyURL because Ivy is naturally very long and crawls into everything. So with that concept plus the fact that IVY is only three letters (TINY obvious is four) the sites that are create with IvyURL are naturally atleast 1 character shorter. Very helpful for Twitter and Mobile.
