Has anyone had an experience with a domain name appraisal service? I was thinking about paying the $20 for godaddy's opinion, but heard they were WAY off base on some other peoples...

I believe the domain would be valued anywhere from high XXX to low X,XXX but want to make sure...

    thanks

i think its a waste of money. I always see them with names for sale showing XX,XXX and the name is selling for a few hundred dollars.

Yeah, that's why I'm wondering if anyone's had any positive experiences with an appraisal service... I know that in the end, the market determine's the price, but surely there's a service that can predict a fair price with some kind of accuracy...

Well, the thing is that most appraisal services are just merely there to make money and to make you happy with their appraisal figures. In the end, since the value of the domain name is highly subjective, the only appraisal which really counts is that made by the potential buyer since it is backed up with the interest to buy.

If the apparaisal service sets your domain name at $1 million, it is not going to mean anything if no one wants to buy it or willing to pay anywhere near it. Of course if the apparaisal service is willing to buy it off you then that's the true value.
