Why??? If someone hit Nuclear Reactor Car by accident it will kill a lot of people on the street.. it will turn like a bomb...
I think the idea is to have the nuclear reactors creating the hydrogen - I don't think anyone is thinking of putting one of those in a car just yet This is a valid point - if there's anyone serious about becomming a billionaire they should work out a way to extract hydrogen from water... theories anyone?
I still think that it will be a good 10 years before hydrogen becomes a viable fuel, if ever! The infrastucture isn't there for a start, the amount of power given isn't up to petrol standards, it's very hard to store and evaporates. Fuel cells are an option, but all alternative fuels are so far very flawed.
Nice! Let's hope that this actually works out and other companies start jumping on the bandwagon. It would be nice to see cars repairing the atmosphere instead of damaging it. I would like to see how the annual rainfall in changes. I hope that these become widely available.
Ah yes of course! I remember this from school! ...I found the following link on the same page which describes the 'hydrogen economy': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_economy It's not very clear on whether you get more out than you put in tho... if you have to put in electricity to get the hydrogen out, does the hydrogen produce more energy than the electricity put in? ...I think I need to go back to school
Aren't they more expensive, anyways i'll never bye one. All this global warming is a load of nonsense.
Green Technologies must be made viable for masses to adopt and goverments must do everything to make them affordable and make their reach easy......goverments must not bow to vested interests that don't allow use of alternate green technologies.......SaveEcology.com
Governments can't make technologies viable. You can't mandate that a technology works. Government has no power over science.
Well, we will rely on oil until a cheaper alternative becomes available. Oil has a huge advantage, in that it's production cost is almost zero.
I'm gonna throw the conspiracy theory in here and say that any oil alternative will be squashed by the oil producing countries... They'll do everything they can to keep the wealth and power that they have... I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about the falacy of the hydrogen economy - the compressed air car (boat, bike, truck) seems like a lot better alternative right now ...could be that Honda are just betting on a lot of people not knowing about the flaws of hydrogen power...
Nah... there's far more money to be made delivering the best solution than there is to be had in taking bribes to wait.
I hope you're right Will! Our Prime Minister Gordon Brown is meeting with the Opec members from Saudi Arabia this week to discuss the cost of oil - it's a little strange because he's behind the massive amounts of tax that we here in the UK are paying... Our fuel costs are around the highest in the world and it's nothing to do with the cost of Oil - we pay Value Added Tax at 17% and then there's a 40-odd-% feul tax on top of that!! Criminal... and this all from our lovely Gordon Brown who's never driven a car and doesn't own a driving licence! He's a presbyterian who believes we should all have nothing and be happy with it... tosser
Don't feel too bad. We're about to elect Barack Obama. He's not far different. We'll be joining you in that hell soon.
