Homepages Friends (formerly MySearchFunds) - Are your refs not searching?

Alright here's the thing, I've got about 66 referrals for this site that are coming from sites I promote this site through. And can you believe that only ONE referral is actually showing as doing any kind of searches?!!! How insanely frustrating. I'd contact them but I don't want them to think I'm spamming them or something. So has anyone contacted their referrals for this site and if so, what have you said to them to encourage them to search? I was waiting on a payment as means of persuasion but I haven't been paid yet but should the next payout. I'm owed over $40. So any input or do you think they are searching and I'm just not getting credit for them?! What does anyone think?

Anyone else have referrals that aren't searching? If so, how many out of your total amount of referrals are NOT searching?

Alot of people mostly registrate to this sort of websites but give up after 10 minutes because they see it isn't like instant-100$... Also, others get scared when they see they need to install plugins and maybe they think it's malware...

But 100 and only 1 searching is also a bit weird...

I had a small number of real world friends (four) sign up and none came up as doing searches so when I visited them in person I found that either their antivirus/antispyware had blocked the change or google bar or whatever other search bar had either blocked the change or kept themselves as the default search method.

Once I corrected the problem and have Homepages Friends set up now as their default search, their searches are showing up.

I also have two unknown users from my webpage referal link who aren't doing any searches, I have also wondered about contacting them as well.

So from my very tiny group the sign up to actual searching ratio was - six sign up, zero searching not very good odds and with four of them I know the problem was at the users end.

Both of you present some valid points that could apply to why users may not be searching and why (if they are searching) I'm not seeing it show up when I log into my account because it's rather strange to have so many referrals and only one is logging. Thank you. I'd really like to email them just don't know what to say after all what if they don't know that by signing up that their email address was exposed to the person they signed up under (in this case, me)? It surprised me because it's not like Homepages Friends tells anyone that their email address will be shared with the person that referred them. Has anyone ever contacted their list? If so, what did you say and how did they respond? Did they ask you how you got their email address?

I have around 70 sign ups and about 11 of them are searching daily.
I tend to see certain people come and go from searching a lot to searching not at all, back to searching a lot.

    Your situation seems kinda weird.
did this happen right after the switch over to myHPF?

I have about 50 sign ups, of them id say only 15-20 have ever searched at all.
I have around 8 users below me who use the site fairly regularly, however genearate sod all searches ( like 1-5 a day each) so im only getting pennies.
From 3 weeks of been a member ive earnt £1.30 from my referrals.

Weird for sure. The only user that searches is the same one I've been seeing search daily. Nobody else is searching or at least if they are I'm not getting credit for it. It's been like this for over a month now. I guess I should have contacted the site's staff. But I still wasn't sure if this was a scam or one of those "hit and run" type of sites so chose to not contact them until I get my first payment. Maybe I shouldn't wait.

Thanks for sharing the information. After reading your post and willhaynes' I think I'm just going to contact my referrals. Figure out what's going on. Still don't know what to say without them screaming spam, but I'll think of something.

    It's a nice idea but:
    1) I dont think your alowed them on DP
2)As most of us are already members, we can't all get on the line, unless we made a new account and joined under each other- which would be silly.
3)I think there is already a downline builder at GetPaidForum.com, i wold like to have got in on that, but unfortunately did not find it until i had been a member for a while

I have about 125 referrals and about 27 users active daily, but for some reason I'm still only making like 3-4 € a week. I look at the list and there will be guys who made 20 searches who earned me 0 cents. I personally don't like yahoo so I've only earned 0.95 € by searching myself. So, I can understand the low ratio of users signed up to users who stuck with it.

    That's what happened to me.

I loved that they were using google, and this was definitely a big PLUS! I recommended alot of people to them (most not even with my referral ID) - they signed up and were pleased to see google being the search engine.

After they switched to yahoo, all of my 30ish referrals have either dropped their searching by min 90% or have just stopped period. A good % of my other referrals have told me they stopped using it, and won't be back.... :(

My referrals are picking up a little - some people who have never previously served now are doing so.
    Anyone else seen an improvement?

Whenever I'm promoting something like this I go for the pile 'em high sell 'em cheap kind of approach - e.g. I rely on getting hundreds of referrals in the hope that maybe tens of them will actually earn me something!

I'm always amazed at how 50% of them give up so quickly, ditching it before they've even reached their first payout. With very little effort it's easy to reach your £20 ($40) payout each month.
