Homepage Schema for List of Articles?

On my homepage I have a list of articles, kind of like many blogs. I'm just wondering what schema I should use on those listings? Also, does Google leech the date of the last one? I see some websites have the date of their last post in their listing. I'm interested in getting that too.

The website is www.funfactz.com. As you can see, there are boxes with an image, caption, fact, and link to the article. What do you recommend?

Generally you should use the schema that most accurately reflects the data. I would probably consider BlogPosting schema in this case.
As far as I know the dates from google are from the date published/modified properties but I'm not 100% sure on that since I think I've seen that from sites with hardly any microdata too.
