Hello guys, Not so simple question, or maybe it is. I am doing SEO for a site that is redirected right away once users come to the homepage they come to www.site.com and are redirected to www.site.com/catalog When link building is it better to link to the homepage or to the /catalog page?
If you use 301 redirect, both are same. However, after you remove the redirect, then it can be different. Mean, if you think you will do nothing change in future, it is fine to link build point to either of them. However, if you think you might do some changing in future, then choose the one you think is more better or you think more important in future
Thanks for the reply. The current redirect is from a php script. I am currently doing all backlinks to the homepage, would it be best to make the redirect a 301?
Why not do both? Looks more natural. I wouldnt just focus on the one though just in case you decide to change the 301 in the future.
