Homepage PR3 all other pages NO page rank Why?

Hi, I was under the impression that the page rank of the homepage gets passed to internal pages -1 rank (provided the homepage links to these pages)? This is not the case on my site and it is puzzling me. My homepage has a PR of 3 but every other page on my site doesn't have any page rank at all !!

I have been concentrating my effects on building the homepage's page rank through back links, thinking that the internal pages would gain page rank from the homepage, as I have links to them on the homepage and in the footer.

Anyone got any suggestions why my internal pages have no page rank or how I can improve the chances of them gaining some?

    my site

    Thanks, David.

Start getting some links to those internal pages. I normally alternate between home page and 1 internal page when link building, so each page will get some links, but the home still gets the most. Having said that, PR (and Google in general) is hard to predict, so just keep focused on those deep links, increase your serp positions, and be happy when you finally get internal PR.

Are you properly inter-linking your web pages? What is the URL to your website, I'll take a look at your internal linking and give you any changes you might need to make. Also, as said above get some backlinks to your internal pages.

I thought that might be a factor, my internal pages don’t have any backlinks at all. I have to sort that out.

"For how much time have your home page been a PR3?" About 3 months roughly. Does an increase in page rank increase the amount the site is spidered?

    Thnaks, David.

So your site got a PR3 at the October 07 update and again on January 2008 update, yet all internal pages still show as 'PR N/A'? If you don't mind, please post your url - this will allow a more indepth analysis of what's wrong with your site PR-wise.

    Thanks

Okey thats a nice heap of links your site has. I would not expect all the internal pages to have PageRank since the homepage's power (in PR, it results PR2 the homepage of your site to me) is not strong enough to spread PR to the rest of the pages. But some of your pages do already have PR, which is more than normal.

this is a common scenario of every website! here's the thing, when you're promoting and building link to your site you usually use the link of your home page only and whenever the robots crawl your backlinks it crawls exactly what url you have provided for your backlinks. That's why your homepage got pagerank first than the other pages!

The same thing has happened to my site...but some pages were ranked with PR and others were not. The deep pages that got a PR had a link to my homepage, but only some deep pages had this happen to them and the others did not. I do not know why because I did nothing to build up the links to that page, but it still got 1 back link from my homepage. Does anyone know why Google added my homepage as a back link to only a few deep pages?

Strange, the google toolbar is showing PR2, but this tool: http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html shows:

    PR 3 For this - www.cfbsuppplies.co.uk

    PR2 for this - http://www.cfbsupplies.co.uk/

    PR2 for this also - www.cfbsupplies.co.uk/

Why is the page rank varying ??????? I have tested it for other domains (like some of my competitors) and their PR is constant.

Everyone is saying deep linking is the way to go, so that’s what I'll do.

    David.

You need to create a file, name it .htaccess at the root of your server. Inside this file create the text as follows:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^cfbsupplies\.co\.uk
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.cfbsupplies.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

    Code (markup):
This will ensure when the user enters any of the following into the browser, http://www.cfbsupplies.co.uk will be loaded.

    www.cfbsupplies.co.uk
    cfbsupplies.co.uk
    http://cfbsupplies.co.uk
    http://www.cfbsupplies.co.uk

As Google effectively sees those as four seperate url's.

    Good luck.

Well this might be because your home page has more quality links than your other pages.

If you type any one of those addresses into a browser address bar it already redirects to: http://www.cfbsupplies.co.uk it does on my browser at least. So why do I need to put a .htaccess file in there.

probably it didn't link build the inner page only the homepage so there is a lack of quality links in the inner page...try to link build the inner page by directory deep link....
