My site, isuckatgolf(dot)net used to enjoy great search engine position in Google for our key term "golf tips". About a year ago it dropped from page 1 to gone. It's still indexed, but won't show up for any search terms I can find other than variations of the URL. I've gone to Google forums, reconsideration requests etc. Made changes suggested in the forums. (nofollow tags, removing ads etc.) The page loads fast, has a PR4, Alexa rank of about 200K. I can't figure out why it dropped from page 1-3 to not in the top 50 or more. I know it's not the greatest site in the world, but it used to be on page 1 or 2 for 3 years. Now nothing. If anyone can take a look and see if I might be missing something obvious I'd really appreciate it.
I discovered something today and was hoping for an opinion if this could be part of my problem? I moved my site about a year ago from Godaddy.com to hostgator. I neglected however to shut off the hosting account at Godaddy. When I ran "copyscape" it was showing duplicate content from the old ip address. I just shut down the old hosting account. Now when I put in the url's that copyscape showed as duplicate I get an error message rather than going to the page. So I guess it is indeed off. Do you guys think that may have been "the problem". (i know I have others that I'm working on.) Having done this, is there anything I need to do to alert google that the duplicate content is gone or do I just wait now? Thanks!
