Homepage links on blog networks

Anyone noticing that links to the homepage (index.php) seem to disappear after a few months? Like seolinkvine for example.

I had a bunch of articles that originally had homepage links months ago, but now seem to have disappeared. I'm sure I looked at the same articles, but most of the links are gone now.

My guess is that because they're blogs they eventually scroll off of the first page and eventually after Google revisits the page several more times it determines that the links are no longer there.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

That is the case in most homepage blog links. It could sometimes be that the linking site was penalized though (rare).

Yeah or the domain has expired. Many of the blogs are owned by individuals in my case. So because the homepage links are the ones more likely to show up and eventually disappear then it would make sense to actually find the page (URL) that the article resides on and ping it and bookmark it.

    Thanks

blog front page will only have certain number of posts with 10 being the widely accepted number. so more posts are published in the future, older posts get into archived and into the inner pages. nothing surprising about that. if you want permanent frontpage link, then try getting blogroll links instead of blogpost links

Excellent question. This happened to me also. 2 month the link was indexed by Google and later disappear. What difference does it make if the article is on homepage or not? The link is on the article page from day one.
I would hate to loose links if linking site can be penalized :(

When the searchegines keep returning to the site and determines that the link is no longer on the page after several visits) it no longer counts it as a backlink (JMO), at least that's what I'm thinking. While the the post page and individual URL are there from day one they sometimes show up as backlinks, but lots of times they don't. Or they may take a little longer longer to start showing up. But in my case I submitted the articles about 4 months earlier and the homepage links had appeared and now disappeared while the other links weren't showing up yet. I asked a question here a few weeks ago about a certain blog network and whether the backlinks were showing up and didn't get any responses.
