Homepage dropped by google

I have read a good bit of sage advice as a lurker on this forum, so I am hoping that someone can reassure me a little here with a small query / worry.

I have a new site and like all newbies have been watching the site rise slowly up google every day for the last 6 weeks (the site went live at Christmas). All of a sudden however the homepage (previously the most readily found SE page) has disappeared. In the past even if you searched for my name (a very common name) the 2 pages that came up almost together were the homepage and my bio page. Now its just the bio page.
And for my long term keywords (Personal training + London) in UK google I have gone from page 19 to nowhere..(OK - I am now on page 30 but that is NOT for the homepage). This flies in the face of my understanding of google as the homepage is the one that my blog links back to most frequently, and is also the only page at present with any relevant incoming links going to it. So why has it disappeared?!
Any light anyone could shed on the situation would be fantastic.

    Nick

if you have changed the page title recently that could be one of the reason.

I update content within the site and the blog on a very regular basis (content 1-2 times per week, blog 5 times a week) and havent changed the homepage page title at all.

    I am very confused!

surely its not a content issue that would cause a page (homepage) to all of sudden disappear from google. Its a new site and for what I do has more original content than any of my competitors.

I would just wait longer than 2 hours after noticing the page as disappeared, I see these types of threads a lot and within 24-48 hours it returns to normal. Did you check "all" data centers or just use www.google.com in your browsers?
