Homepage Change Ideas - $60 1st place, $40 2nd place + other cash prizes (up to $200)

Background is changed. Menu bar was shifted. Alot of the title menus were changed to orange/red. The entire About me section was facelifted. As well as the Search section. I squeezed the ads into the site better, but didnt edit them. Would you like the ads edited more thoroughly? And the middle section as well?

 

Anyway, here's my try displayed on site:

Changes i made:
1) The headings format
2) The About us, Oil Charts, etc.
3) The Background.

These changes are made by me the first. You can see the 3rd post if.

 

Hey bro as you stated you wanted just to see the changes on how the site would look than that i can do i thought you wanted to edit you website well the changes what i ment is as follow in the screenshot
1.though the boxes are not properly bordered but you can well border them on you site so that the visitor can actually be hilighted with what are the current graphical change on the prices
2.you change the colour of the main text of the article section to dark red or orange so that visitors are prompted to read articles.

so well now my ideas are aligible to you contest and well i have seen many working on my idea only so you can count my idea in you contest

Hemp I'm sorry but I did not agree to you print screening my entry and editing it with someone elses. This completely defeats the purpose of a contest. Besides, that background is so incredibly bright that is distracts from the rest of the site. I just want the contest holder to understand that the above entry is mine, but he added stardesigns99's menu titles (see his entry above). and then added his own background.

Here is my latest entry but with another edit. I put that first banner below the articles. I felt it was odd where it was places, seemed out of place, and pushing the articles out of the way. Perhaps it would be even better if all the article sections were together? And both banners were pushed to the bottom? Feedback Please.

EDIT: The more I look at this set-up, the more weird it seems. The original location of the banner might be best..

 

nice entries so far guys.... am about to finish my entry in few hours.... i wonder if chaging the layout a bit is acceptable too...

 

I would say yes, from what I believe he wants done (just to improve the site) but you might wanna watch what you move, because everything still has to be coded and working again.

Hi Guys – thanks for all of the entries so far – here’s some feedback:

Jerin3013 – thanks for the entry – but not what I’m looking for

Stardesigns99 -interesting background suggestion – but it just looked a little bit dull on the example.

Hemp – I’ve seen quite a few posts from you claiming you should be included as others are copying your designs. My opinion on this is that they aren’t! You offered quite generic suggestions and this competition is about supporting and showing your ideas. If you can’t do this – you are not in the competition. Sorry to be harsh, but you seem to be distracting the other entrants on the thread with your posts. I have run a lot of competitions here and believe I’m a very fair judge.

V06-TECH (13) – Thanks for the entry – but I’m not very keen on the background and after thinking about the red – I really don’t think it will work – it certainly livens things up, but it’s just a bit too lively for the site.

X8smile (14) – Interesting background – but I’m afraid it doesn’t work for me. The red version is not something I like.

Chewysmon (15/16) – Interesting, but the background doesn’t work and after thinking about the orange titles I’m afraid they are a bit too brash – still it got me thinking.

Xavier 3D – That is pretty interesting – it certainly looks smart – I’ll need to think on this – maybe change the colours a bit.

Duff1000 – Thanks for the entry, I’m not too sure what you are suggesting though – the blue line – I’m not too keen on.

V06-TECH (21) – Very interesting what you have done with the about us menu – I’ll have to think a little more about this – but this is the sort of thing I’m after. Actually I do really like it. The only problem is with the colour, I’m just not keen on the orange/red – it just makes the site look a little too funky. The background doesn’t work for me.

Stardesigns99 (22) – Thanks for an additional entry, it’s not doing it for me though.

Hemp (23) – Thanks for putting your ideas into a design – sadly they aren’t working for me. They are just too brash.

V06-TECH (26) – you’ve been busy. I’m not too keen on the advert placement – I see what you mean and I’m pleased you tried shifting it, but for me it doesn’t work.

Jnjnnino (30) – I’m liking what you are doing with the about us box. And the shine you have on the latest articles wording. Also I like the shape you have made the commodity prices on the right hand side. I’m not at all keen on the header or the red colouring though. Still you have come up with some very interesting ideas, if you could try a few different colours on the about us box that would be great.

Bizzard (31) – Thanks for the enrty, but I’m looking to stick with the format I’ve chosen for now.

Thanks for the feedback, what I have changed is the ads (take a look) But if you don't like it thats ok, just wanted to let you know I made more then the blue line change.

 

I'm really surprised your not liking this red and orange. It matches the header and logo and really pops the site out making it attractive and grabs your attention fast. But i will try other colors. (is it ok to change the color of the logo/header?)

 

V06-TECH - please don't change the colours of the logo or header. I know what you mean about the red/orange colours. At first i did like them, but after a short while it felt wrong and isn't the image i want the site to project.

Jnjnnino (36) – That is looking good – the blue colour is nice – it stands out and looks professional still (possibly have a little lighter though)
I like what you have done with the commodity prices on the right hand side as they all stand out better now and look a little more compact.
The about us box is okay – but still needs work.
In the centre – I like the Latest articles headings – it stands out and looks very nice.

What I’m not keen on is the spacing and presentation of each article below – it just doesn’t work – there’s too much room and it just looks a little weak.
Also for the most popular articles I’d like something that stands out (but isn’t brash and overpowering.)

Still this looks good.
