home page pr and subpage pr

    Hi

Ive noticed a lot that people quote a blog or forum with a high pr homepage, but the sub pages are quite often only a pr 1 and sometimes pr 0.

If a forum or blog homepage has a pr of 6, and i post a comment on a sub page with a pr of 0, is there any value in this? does it take any value from the rank of the homepage?

Your observation is absolutely valid, it is the PR of the linking page that matters, not the PR of the blog's home page. If you monitor the SEO recommendations that are passed around on this forum, 95% of them are pretty worthless (I am not kidding). Most posters seem hell-bent on creating low quality, throwaway links just because it's easy. They would be better advised to get a single permanent high quality link from a relevant site in their niche.

thanks philipseo for clarifying the point. If you read a lot of posts on here you'd think getting a high pr site is easy, when it actually takes a lot of time and effort to secure good backlinks etc.

Of course it has value. As far as the page in question is indexed in Google you will be getting a quality link from established and trusted site.
Don't get too obsessed with Google PR, I would focus on the number of outgoing links, uniqueness of the page and link placement as well.

if the homepage has high PR and has certain authority with google, then inner page link from that site will certainly have some value. if you submit an article to ezinearticle for example, homepage is PR6 but the new article page will naturally have PR0. that doesn;t mean that your links will not be counted or have any value. linking page PR will pass you more PR juice but the domain authority itself will give you some link value

I am not the expert regarding this discussion, but I just want to share my experience,
    1. In hard core page rank formula there is no importance of home page rank, only the pr of the page where your link is appearing is counted.
    2. But when it come to authority site, the pr of home page definitely support you link.
    3. In the article and blog posting in most of the case, you newly added article page have pr0 or even less pr even it boost your link.
    4. PR0 does not mean exact 0 value of pr of that page, that page have definitely some value between 0 & 1, so you get link juice even from pr0 page.

The PR juice you get is based on the sub-page. The reason people like to get link on those high PR site because the sub-page has chance to get higher PR in future

Linking page PR matters more than home page PR, but Home page PR also count. In blogs when a new posting is done it has no PR but in next PR update they will certainly get PR

The PR of the page is the pr of the page. If it has low PR it will be of less value, even if the index page is pr9 etc

You can get high SERPs from building links from PR1 pages, but only if your niche is very non-competitive. It all depends on what type of market you are fighting for. But even a one-way link from a PR1 page is better than nothing.
