I have a site that I have been optimising endlessly for many years and for the past several years or so it has ranked really well. Around about a week ago Google lost interest in indexing the home page for most of the top keywords and decided to index one of the internal pages instead. Would anyone happen to know what could have caused this please and how it can be changed back?
There is never any clear reason why google does what it does. However I have found that sometimes indexes can have dramatic changes and soon change them back. You may have potentially been penalised for something i.e. black hat seo?
You should check for meta robot tag in home page. If it is there on the home page, the page can't be crawled. So remove robot tag if any.
Hi guys thanks for all the tips! Today I am looking at the results and true to the cause lightup was right, the page has come back by itself but rankings have dropped. I will carry on with link building but what’s the best solution, do you think I have created too many backlinks too soon? I also remember buying 5000 back links from a guy maybe that was the cause as he may have created them too fast.
