Am I doing something wrong? My domain home page seems to be indexed twice in Search Engines. For www.Domain.com/ and www.Domain.com/index.cfm. Index.cfm is set as default page in IIS. Is this hurting my ranking? Do search engines really see this as two pages even though same page. BTW..www.Domain.com/ is PR3 whereas www.Domain.com/index.cfm is PR2 Should I put a 301 redirect to index.cfm. For backlinks should I be explicitely pointing to index.cfm instead of just domain/?
You don't want links pointing to /index...you want them to point to .com/ Think of the user who links your site, they will link .com/ and that is were the PR will go from anchore text. Make sure your entire site points to the .com/ and Google will weed out the other atribute. D
yeah my first site I worked on since 1999 has index.htm and index.html both of them show a pr 6 today they even differ in content a bit but I guess because most incoming links are .com/
