Under normal circumstance if the link is hard coded and not behind scripts then it would be considered as SEO friendly link. You can call it as a backlink when Google indexes this link and shows it in the link list for your site ;)

No. You are in a forum for webmasters. You've been posting for almost 2 years now. You have 2,986 posts as I write this.

You asked a question about whether a link from a page with a Google PageRank of 2 would count as a backlink. Therefore, you know what Google, PageRank, links, and backlinks all are.

Now you're saying that not only do you not know what nofollow and hardcoding mean, you also didn't realize that despite whatever title you give yourself, that you are indeed a webmaster?

Exactly what do you think a webmaster is?

Cause if you own a website or a blog, and are selling links, then yeah, you're a webmaster, and yeah, there's some basics you should know before worrying about whether or not your PR2 profile link will count as a backlink. We're not talking 4 year degree stuff here, just elementary facts you should be on at least a nodding acquaintance with. Seriously.

Google, Yahoo!, and MSN all agreed to respect "nofollow" a few months ago.
    See http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/050118-204728

Yahoo! seems to handle its support in background, so you may see nofollow'ed links in the results of the link: operator over there. I haven't checked MSN.

How exactly did January 18, 2005 turn into "a few months ago"?

And you can trust me on this, Yahoo does not "respect" nofollow.

Do you think i care what you think i should know about hardcoding and nofollow just because i'm at DP for 2 years and have almost 3000 posts?

I never build a website, never will!
I know basic stuff about PR yeah i do, but cause of that i'm forced to know how to check if a link is nofollow or not?
Common dude, give me a break and go spend your time on the spammers that waste DP bandwidth.
I made an honest question that i didn't seen being asked before. If you don't want to answer go to another thread and bug another guy...
    Peace!

Yes, or you wouldn't have answered.

It's not just that, btw, it's also related to the fact that you know enough to be worried about the question you first posed in this thread... but not enough to type the damn word into Google and find out what it meant?

You would have been fine just asking for clarification... but no, you're the one who decided to post a smartass comment in reply to st0x's honest reply to your question:

"looking at it" is exactly how you tell if it is nofollowed.

I really don't care what you think, i answer you but it's not cause i care, it's because you are trashing my thread without saying anything useful.

Everybody can type things at Google, but you still don't understand that when i posted i don't even knew about hardcoded or nofollow...I didn't mention that in the original post, or did I?
The question was simple, and i was looking for a simple answer...

I looked at the link...I asked if it would count as a backlink...I had no answer from it.:rolleyes:

Common, give me a break. You honestly think that if i could just look at the link and knew if it would count as a backlink i wouldn't do it?

I can look at a tooth and see if it's something wrong with it...Can you do the same? It's the same thing IMO...

    Yes you do.

You asked how to tell if it was nofollowed. He said to look at it. That is exactly what you do.

    Go to your profile:

    Click on View -> Source:

Find the link. Look at the link. Does it have the string "nofollow" in it?

That one does not. To compare, here is one that does:

The point is, that is very basic stuff. Rankings, and the effect PageRank will have on them, is way more advanced.

To compare, I would hope, very very much hope, that you would know how to tell if a tooth is bad by looking at it, long before going on a forum and asking which is the best brand of pliers to use for removing teeth.

    Make sense?

Dude, you're not inside my head. I couldn't care less what you think about me or my posts or my threads. And that's it, say what you want...

And now i got you guys definition of "Look at a link"
Look at a link, by mvandemar:

I should had: Right clicked the page, view source, found the home page link part in the middle of all the code html stuff ( which i don't understand a single thing btw, in case you forgot that part ) and after that, i should have LOOKED at the code of the link that i wouldn't find in months to see if it had the word nofollow...

Yeah seems quite basic for me to just look at a link...I'm so sorry i opened this thread!

You finally posted something useful in this thread, thanks! I finally learned something from you, green rep on the way!

Not all teeth are to be removed btw...That would hurt the patient PR. ;)
