Contest Home Page Design Ski Resort $200 (no coding)

I need a new design for the website skikelly.com.

Logo file can be downloaded from http://www.kadesmith.com/images/kc.psd

I need the following link titles:

Home
The Mountain
Lessons & Clinics
Hours
Tickets/Passes
Party & Event Hosting
Employment
Rentals
Ski Patrol
Contact Us

Home page still needs a place for:
Weather section,
Snow report (Usually contains 1-2 lines of text underneath like "17 inches of new snow last night and still snowing"),
Season pass link (currently in the top right)
"Welcome message" that is editable by staff.

Please include a twitter icon and if you'd like you can add a section for latest tweets.

Width of the site needs to be around 980px.

The audience of this website is a young crowd ages 12-30. Majority are snow boarders with some skiers mixed in.

Please use photos from the photo galleries section under "The Mountain". If you use an image from an outside site, provide the link to stock image in the delivery.

Payment will be $200 PayPal. Final delivery to be a layered PSD file.

Sarah: This design feels too open in some places and too busy in others.

Herodineshkumar: The overall design isn't bad, but does not fit this page. The hill is not a resort. It's a small ski hill where you only ski for a couple hours and then go home. Also, there is no where to put the welcome message on that page nor twitter info.

 

Ok im going to start again from scratch.
Would you like a darkish layout or light?

 

Dark background with lighter around text and main content is what I think will work best.

Here's my proposal. I wanted to make something really eye catching, very colorful and pleasant to the eye. This will definitely caugh the attention to the target audience , kids and young people. The design is based on a 960px grid so all the content is readable for 1024px users and the background would be fixed acording the resolution. Users with wider screen will be inmerse in a better enviroment .

zeba: That is a really sweet design, but it doesn't really work for this client because it would give the impression of them having a much bigger ski hill than they really are. I'm also not really big on having background images that take up the entire background for designs. I'd rather see just a section on the home page where the client could swap out their own images from time to time than a big background thing.

Please give me your feedback with what to change. I changed the colors of the logo to match the site, I'm not sure if that's the problem? Also maybe adding some other images to the header or these are fine?
Under the header, there will be a slider with a few images.

Anterr: Logo colors need to stay as they were in the original. I really like the effects you did on the snow boarder to make it look like he is in action in the header. The mountain in the header is too large though. This is a small ski hill.

herodine: The PMed latest still feels too open. There is just too much white space.

vinpkl: I'm really like your design. Although, I think it would look better with deep reds, blacks, and grays instead of browns, pinks, and orange.

Nasweef: Too much red and the header image really isn't working the way it is repeated.

To everyone. A lot of these designs feel like they are too similar to the existing site layout. We're trying to get something new, not just something modified.
