holy moly! One (irrelevant) site submitted to 102 categories!

    Well, this just beats all.

I have a niche arts directory (music, art & literature). I do allow submissions to more than one category, because sometimes a site fits well into 2 categories.

Some jerk submitted his "construction lawyers" site to 102 of the 127 categories in my directory.

I immediately deleted them all of course.

Now, sometimes folks submit to 2 categories. That's OK, if they're relevant to both. And, we do get a lot of submissions that don't relate to our niche; I hate that but I'm used to it.

But this is different; it is so extreme. I've never seen anything like it before. Have any of you had the same experience?

    cheers ~
    Denise

p.s. It is nice to think that he's going to get 102 rejection notices in his mailbox!

ROFL. Looks like he fell in love with your directory. If you have given him some time, he might have submitted to remaining 25 categories as well :p

lol .... That does sound nice ;)

If the submissions are relevant I would let them into more then one category.

On a different note - That guy sounds like a dush!

spammers will try ANYTHING to get a free link. Makes me seriously doubt the legitimacy of his site if someone tries that....

    You are absolutely right.

The website in question is indeed very spammy...and the fact that it's a lawyer's website makes it even worse. Who would want to hire a lawyer like that?

    cheers ~

If we could only get our spammer to do something worthwhile
and productive then i would think differently of him/her :)

Once biz-giant is up he will be terminated and may not have too
go to the extreme of banning an entire country for 1 fool. ;)

    thx

I imagine it took you maybe a couple of clicks to delete it all, Denise? Whilst the guy who did it probably took a while to fill in all of those fields, even with something like Roboform. If only you could harness that stupidity and use it to power a small town.

He cant do it to phpld 3.2 and is forced to do it by hand.

I'm assuming it is 3.2? But I have come across multiple submits like this that have obviously been done by hand, once in a while.

Yes, it's PHPLD 3.2. So, it was quick for me to delete them. But it's the audacity of it that blew me away!

    best,

LOL. Some people really have time for this. On one of my sites I have had people submit same ad 50 times a day on different cities, countries etc. Eventually made me change the system to handle this.
You may think about checking the url if it already exists in the system.
