Holy Grail?

Ok, I've looked, pondered, queried and I'm lost.

What is the holy grail of search? What is KING?

If you could rank for any phrase, the hardest phrase - what would it be?

Taking out of the picture whatever industry you're in, what is THE holy grail?

Well, if you were to really look at a competitive niche -

    1) Established site - the older the better.
Established sites have developed long term, quality links. They have a clear theme. They usually have lots of good content.
    2) Inbound links - quantity, related subject sites, quality site links.
    3) Clear site theme.
    4) Content - Unfortunately, I think page count does come into play, but moreso a lot of quality pages. They inspire inbound links from places you would not expect, and help bring repeat visitors.
    5) On page SEO. I really think established sites are better effected by doing a little bit of on page SEO.

Ahhh... Then the answer is simple. Sex.

People search for it daily on a whim. People search for it as soon as they get online for the first time. People accross all age groups and classifications are interested in it.

Wordtracker rates it at 267K a day, and overture for once agrees. There are probably some terms that will pick up more traffic at times, but long term this always has been and will always be one of the top terms.

Ok I wholly agree. You're right.

Now I'm going to change the rules.

Take out sex, pharmaceutical, warez, gambling etc. Now what?

I haven't looked at AnalogX for a while. They have some excellent stuff, like top notch, and they still have: Keyword Live

I've used this before, it is wild! Works good, nevetS is 100% right!
LOL, I think you can censor it, or it is censored. No sex words here at the Online page.

(Man, I forgot - they have some good stuff here at AnalogX)

I think between AnalogX and Sysinternals, you can't get much better software.

That keywords live is the one!!!!!:) :) :)

I would want to be number one for:

"I am looking to spend money"

I took a look at Keyword Tracker and they have a censored list now - I don't think any of the top 10 terms are going to hold for the long term. Celeb names like Brittany Spears or Paris Hilton are a sure win if you can get them because traffic will surge anytime they hit the news. Could be anywhere from 10K/day to 150K/day for something like that. Poetry is number 3 right now on there?!? Overture only shows 10K/day but kt is showing 100K. That's the biggest discrepancy I've ever seen.

I wondered! I haven't paid much attention to SEO for a while.

So that doesn't look that relevant, the AnalogX? Thanks, nevetS. Do you remember something called WebCEO, or something. I will look for that one.

    Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes:)

I would want to be ranked #1 for the search ".com" not that commonly searched but the results (at least on Google) are the web elite.
