Gov Blagojevich has appointed former IL attorney general Roland Burris to be the replacement senator for Barack Obama's vacant seat. This guy has balls.... balls of iron forged in the fiery pits of Mordor! So what's gonna happen now?
Actually, this is a pretty good way to dig himself out of the hole. By handing it on a silver platter to a political enemy, it will be had to say that this appointment is corrupt...in fact, it is more above-board than it would have been had the indictments not appeared. Blagojevich will probably get some unofficial leniency in return for this appointment, since he could have been a pain and appointed a crony. I predict that his sentence will wind up being shorter than George Ryans. 3 1/2 years + fines + probation when it's all over.
