Holding SERP for long time

    I get position in first page for several keywords. But I cannot hold this position for long time.
    I am creating high pr backlinks and adding content but always sites go to 10 th to 50th page after one or two month and they never come back.
    What precaution I can take for new sites so that they not go to 10th to 50th page after one or two month?
    Which extra work can ensure me to hold the first page position for long time?
    Any suggestion or help?
