I've never really had a reason to think about this before, until recently I obtained 6 high authority PR6 - 8 backlinks, but they are unrevelvant. Just wondered how effective these links were? The are high authority links, and worth a lot, but they are not related to my site and the anchor text has nothing to do with my site.
Not very but every word becomes a key word? so why doughbt your self be brave and write content that is key word rich and make sure its relevant to the domain
I am writing content that is keyword rich, and doing everything to optimize my website for my target keywords. The anchor text in these links is my name, rather than my keywords. I was just curious however, because I recently obtained about 5 PR6, 4 PR7 and a PR8 backlinks from high authority websites. I'm talking about sites with tens of thousands of backlinks, including a lot of .Edu and .Gov TLDs, and high PageStrength (Upto 6.5).
maybe it will help to boost your trust rank of your site... But if all your links and contents are not relevant, it will go to nothing...
I had a similar question. My boss has done sites for .edu's and other high PR pages. I was going to have him make a page that lists all the sites he has done and link to all of those sites from his high PR sites with keywords for each site in the text link. This should be very good for the new sites shouldn't it?
i think everylink will help you to get better rankings but nobody can give exact numbers about the weigth of unrelated backlinks
no link is a bad link....it is just that it could have been better, but they are certainly better than nothing
Right, so your saying i hit page one for "SEO Company" and hovering around top 50 in the world for the term "SEO" with only 3 or 4 SEO related backlinks and the other 7,000 non-related ones didn't help? And the company i got to page one for the 1 Billion result term "Web Design" was done on about 6 design related backlinks? You may wish to expand your knowledge on SEO and the Google algorithm.
No I did not buy them, but they are the sort of links they are - just random links at the side/bottom of the page full of information on technology and other unrelated topics. I think people are getting the wrong idea. I'm not a noob to SEO, infact from some of the responses I'm guessing I know more than a lot of people. People saying that they will not help my rankings are wrong, I know that for a fact. Every backlink counts. I was just hoping for some intelligent response, and wondering if anybody had any idea of the weight of a non-relevant, yet high authority backlink, compared to a plain old backlink.
All backlinks are helpful even it's not related. If your priority is to improved your targeted keywords then go for related link. As long as your not linking back to unrelated sites your rankings would not hurt.
All high pr links are good, they wont heart your ranking, but for some, you wont get the effect that you are paying for. What kind of links are they? home page links are better then sub. If they are .edu links so you have nothing to worry about. When did they go live? Remember, it might take 2-3 month before you will see the effect...
