So my site www.theafricangreyparrot. com has delivered over 2300 visitors to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSDFzg8_Wfg and yet the link back to my site is nofollow. Doesn't seem right to me - i'm giving them quite a bit of traffic and they don't even give a link back. Think I may have to remove that video from my site. That traffic should be earning me money! What do you guys think? Notting
Well at least you do get some visitors from the link back Youtube gives you. Youtube automatically links back to the top 5 referers to a video so they can't actually screen who gets linked to and that's why you get the nofollow. You may not get the PR juice but you may get some relavance from the link in the search engines for searches for that video.
You could use nofollow on your own link to YouTube? Honestly, though, I don't know why YouTube is still going. Their bandwidth costs must be astronomical. How much do you imagine it would cost you if you had to host that video yourself? They're giving an awful lot away for free, so I think your sending them visitors is sort of double-edged, because those visitors are probably costing them a lot at the moment.
