I created a site that was a charity site, where people can donate to the rspb through an affiliate link.

However because the ad was of a "charity nature" it got a very very low click through rate.

Google now wants me to pay £2.75 to activate these words. (not reasonable)

    What should i do?

Try to get as many alternative keywords or keyphrases (use common spelling mistakes) and don't bid as muh as google asks. Anyway activating the keywords for this bid doesn't means you're always paying that much, it's a maximum bid, but be careful with it anyway.

try to activate these same keywords by writing more relevant ads.
