If you execute this command in google "links:www.acaiberryandcoloncleanse.com/acai-berry-edge-body-cleansing" you can see the backlinks some guy has pointing to his acai berry site that ranks number one in google for some pretty competitive keywords. Yet 95% of his backlinks are from random subdomains that all redirect to the same page. But google seems to see these as separate links? I thought google was a lot smarter than that...
It is That doesn't mean that things don't always work temporarily though. I didn't look at it, but if it's as spammy as you say, it probably won't last very long
Take what you see in a Google link: command with a grain of salt. Google is showing you a 'sample' of the links they know about... but you don't know if the ones they are showing you are even being counted. They will frequently show links that have been devalued to 0 and not counted in the results. My guess is he is experiencing the wonder of the Google "Honeymoon" period as is frequently experienced by sites newly indexed by Google. The domain wasn't even registered until Dec 29, 2008.... So it has to be brand new and recently indexed. Google will show newly indexed sites on page 1 for several days or even weeks for keyword phrases they think are relevant. Many say Google does this to get initial values for some of their ranking factors that can only be determined if the page is seen by searchers (like CTR, bounce back rate, etc.) Others say it's a way the algo gets late breaking news or fads to the top of the SERPs... There are many theories 'why' this phenomenon occurs. Regardless, after a few days or weeks of appearing on page 1, they typically disappear from the SERPs falling way back to where they should have 'naturally' ranked all along. At this point the webmasters frequenly think they are penalized, when in reality they never 'really' ranked on page 1 legitimately. Check the SERPs in 3-4 weeks for those same keywords and see if the site is still there... The guy doesn't have that many backlinks... My guess is he'll be gone when you check then.
Thanks for the detailed reply. It was surprising since I thought google usually spots redirects pretty easily.
That basically describes what happened with my site. It was brand new and it was 11th on a certain keyword for a couple of days and then it disappeared into the abyss but now its back. i m just wondering how he spam so much and how that guy is redirecting all those links to himself lol.
Canonica answered your question perfectly. I've seen this high ranking of new sites happen multiple times, just like he/she has described.
Yeah, your site can jump from the bottom to the top and then right back down again in no time at all.
Thread made of fail. It is called "link" not "links" Your search - link:www.acaiberryandcoloncleanse.com/acai-berry-edge-body-cleansing - did not match any documents.
Google typically kicks these guy's butts when it comes to such blatant cheating and stuff like that. It happens usually within days or weeks at most.
Black hats know their particular actions don't last long - their deal is to get in and then get out. They know the SE will catch on - but not right away.
Even if google was dumb enough to not realize this i believe there would be 100's of people out there who would have reported that website as a spam in google and other search engines.
