Hit with the Google Ban Stick

    Hi,

I have a 1 month old site which had low traffic

2 days ago I posted 2 articles that started doing well (~200/day from google) for 2 search terms.

Today, I have 0 incomings from google. If I search the teams people were coming from, I find no results

I *might* have some duplicate content in some sub directories url.com/dup1, url.com/dup2.

    My questions:

    1. Does it sound like I got banned or a hiccup?
    2. If I got banned, should I clean up this site or start over with a new url?
    3. Can I post the url for people to take a look?

Any comments you can give will help me.

    Thanks

I think posting the URL would be a good start. It's hard to answer your question without being able to glance at the content and your SEO optimization....

I wouldn't worry if I were you. If you would have been banned, there would be no ads on your pages or public service announcements.
Probably the ad placement is bad, or the ads are too "in your face", not blended it, or people just didn't feel like clicking on them.

    OK, here is more information:

    The site is http://www.thefootballdoctor.com/

Yesterday I had 103 google referrals in my logs, mostly for "patriots running up the score" and "patriots vs. colts 11-4-07" or variations. The day before I had 27 google referrrals.

Today I have exactly 1 referral from google, that is for "football-doctor"

You can see my duplicate content at http://www.thefootballdoctor.com/Chargers/

    Any thoughts/ideas?

    Thanks a ton

I almost didn't see the ads.
And when I did, i wasn't tempted to check them out, because they're too far away from the content.
The top on on that dark gray background, it's hard for me to read it and didn't bother with it...

I would try placing one 468x60 unit under the first two posts, without borders, or one 250x250 stuck on the right part of the first two comments.

Anyway, you should experiment with different types of ads, I don't know what other advice to give.

Later edit: It may be worth using Ad Filtering for MFA sites. For example, I've seen this ad on you page

    Football
Looking for football? Top Football sites.
    hxxp://fastglance.net/Football/

It's clearly MFA.. replace xx with tt to see the page.

    Thanks again mariush.

I'm running a test now to see if I can figure out why I dropped out of the serps. It's still super low, but there might just be competition.

Can you tell me what you mean by MFA?

I'm still working on moving the ads.
