    what do you guys feel is the best hit tracker, that shows recent came from and all that, free would be nice too.

    I should be on commission for this: StatCounter.
    A very good tool tells you everything the average webmaster needs to know.

    StatCounter is nice, however G Analytics is free, and gives quite good stats, too. I like their graphics a lot.

    I recommend this one too. This is what I've been using for a couple of months.

    They give you the keywords visitors searched to go to your site, the URL people came from , their location, their browser, their location, return visitors, unique visitors and the list goes on ;)

    Another vote for google analytics here. I started using it recently and its really come in handy. Especially so seeing as the built in stats on some of the webhosts i use are complete garbage.
