Basic English knowledge and understanding required. If English is not your first language, hopefully it is Russian or Spanish, as some executives speak Russian or Spanish... If not, hopefully you have a solid understanding of English. Pay will be negotiated based on availability and amount of work completed. You will work a 1 month trial period on a fixed term contract where you will be paid $150 at the end of the month. This is your trial period, practical interview. THIS IS A FIXED CONTRACT, terms to be negotiated before we start. THIS IS NOT AN EMPLOYEE POSITION where a wage is in order. This is a chance to prove yourself to the corporation and board members for our first few board meetings. After the first month, we will negotiate a long term contract for employment or continued contract work. Serious inquiries only please, send me an email with why you think you would be best for the job, your working availability and your wage expectations for regular employment to sales(at)thexception.com with the subject line "programming application" We will review all applications, however due to workload we may only contact those qualified and approved for an interview. We plan to employ a programming team, so the first person to secure a position in the programming department of the corporation will likely end up being the manager. After we give you an official offer of employment, following completion of the first work contract, the selected candidate will be required to sign full legal documentation including the work contract we agree on and an NDA. Thank you for your time! Mike Slemko President & CEO TheXception E-Business Solutions

FYI - this is illegal in pretty much every single state in the United States as a violation of minimum wage laws. I assume you are looking for someone overseas? You cannot do what you are proposing here in the States or Canada.
Check the legal documentation. Nothing I am doing is illegal. Keep your comments to yourself please, this is not the place for such things. This is not a rip off or a scam, this is a $150 contract for a programmer, and if it works out, a position in the corporation with proper salary, bonuses and benefits. If you aren't interested, move on to something else. If these comments keep up, I will just drop the whole thing and forget hiring people on DigitalPoint anymore, which will be a disappointment. Usually this is a great place to find great people that do great work. If it's going to be too much of a hassle then it just isn't worth it to me, I can hire people here locally and not have to worry about people like Brinked.
Check what legal documentation? His concern is a legitimate one, and I believe what he is getting at is what would be expected in return for the $150. A 'months' work is not very descriptive. You could mean an hour a week or sixty. Just clarify instead of attacking him, thats all. You might also want to include what the 'proper' salary, bonuses, and benefits would be. Just my 2 cents.
Hi - if you take the effort to read through Mike's (TheException's) post - he makes it very clear that he's talking about a contract for services for the 1 month, and that it is NOT an employee position until after both parties are mutually agreeable. I notice Mike has edited the post, presumably to make this contract element clear. IANAL, but afaik this is not illegal. Plenty of situations where there's a short term contract for evaluation of services, with potential to go ahead with a longer term association.
These details would be discussed in private only. As we will be a legal corporation with shareholders and board members to answer to, we will no longer be discussing any such details publicly, and when working on any projects anyone working for us will be under a NDA. Thanks for helping others to understand the situation here, newrhodes, it seems they don't quite understand my English, perhaps my Canadian accent is showing through, eh? The point here is that we have PHP work that needs to be done. There will be a full time position available for salary based on experience and performance. I will require that the applicant works 24 hours per day, every single day for the entire month. There will be 5 minute food breaks allowed based on good behavior and ass kissing, maximum of 1 per week. I will be using a bull-whip to ensure you stay focused. Any infraction on my rules will result in decapitation. Like c'mon guys, give me a break here. The terms of the contract are to be discussed in private. I am already sifting through some applications, so if you have php and programming skills and need work, come talk to me and 6 months from now you might be planning your retirement fund etc. With the response in this thread, I will likely just hire somebody locally instead.
