i m interested in applying for ur job i am sendin an article which i wrote and it was published by a daily newspaper in india.. i will charge 1$ or 75 cents per 500 words. it depends on the workload if the order is bulky then it will be 75 cents else 1$ "In our predominantly male-dominated society, and in both the affluent and backward regions of our country, the birth of a female offspring brings about feelings of despair and hatred in most families . Though the girl is hailed as 'Lakshmi' in many homes, she is actually treated as a liability in a society where everything is measured in materialistic terms. Living under the shadow of the looming spectre of dowry, parents prefer to kill the infant thereby solving the problem of dowry. And in the case of those who are allowed to be born, they are subjected to inhumane treatment and subjugated, till one day they either resort to suicide or are murdered by those around them. Both female infanticide and foeticide have led to a declining sex ratio in our country showing an unacceptable trend that the female species has been given no right to survive in this country. We were rudely awakened when the 2001 Census revealed a sharp decline in the sex ratio of children in the 0 to 6 years of age group, with the number of females per 1000 males going further down from 945 in 1991 to 927. Demographers attributed the phenomenon to the increased incidences of sex selective abortions. We did pass a law against the misuse of pre-diagnostic techniques, but as always, such laws are hardly implemented and put to practice or the guilty are charged with minor misdemeanors and set free. Such laws are almost never taken seriously and rarely serve the purpose they are meant to. They, like the girl child, are treated with contempt. The loopholes are easily found and a safe exit for the convicted is made available. So how do we tackle such a menace?? Law, though the primary solution, is only a partial solution to this major issue. Much more important is the mindset of the people that perpetuates the prejudice against girls and women. Few are bothered about the long term consequences of the present scenario of the girl child . Lying at the heart of the problem is the hydra-headed evil of dowry and the lowly status conferred upon women. Those who still believe in the notion that a male child is a bigger, if not only, asset while the girl is an liability help in perpetuating this henious trend and hence are to be dealt with seriously and soon. And finally, it is only through the collective efforts of the society as a whole to accept the girl child and to not deprive her of her rightful status in the world that the girl child shall receive a better future "
