I'm currently hiring a writer for a newly created topic site with Suite101.com - Webmaster Resources. This topic was created to replace the Graphic / Web Design topic site (to remove the emphasis on graphic design, and add additional focus to other webmaster issues). The primary issues to be discussed on the site include Web design (including things like photoshop and dreamweaver tutorials, etc.), Coding (html, css, etc.), SEO, other Web promotion issues, scripts, etc. - Basically, whatever a webmaster would want to know. Obviously, I'm looking for an experienced webmaster for the topic site. Please review the network requirements and application instructions below if you have an interest in being considered: WRITER REQUIREMENTS 1. Set up and maintain your site's home page (welcome message, topic photo, writer photo, poll, etc.) 2. Write at least one article per week (approx. 400 words) 3. Write at least one blog post per week 4. Participate in discussion threads on your topic site. 5. You MUST be a solo freelance writer. Suite does NOT hire companies with multiple writers, and we will not simply purchase content already created. We don't "buy articles." The work is for an ongoing basis to manage a topic site and continually provide the above-mentioned content. RIGHTS 1. Writers maintain the copyright to their work. 2. Work can never have been previously published on the Web (published in print is fine, as long as it's re-formatted to Web writing styles). You must grant Suite101 exclusive online rights to the work for one year with non-exclusive online rights after that. After that exclusive year, you can re-publish it elsewhere online. You always retain your right to re-publish it in print, even during that first year. 3. Even if you leave Suite101, you will continue to be paid for any pageviews accumulating from your archived articles. PAY $2 / 1000 pageviews. Suite101 makes NO exceptions to this, as there will be 400 writers when all spots are filled (a little over 200 now I believe), and everyone is paid under the same system. There are writers doing the bare minimum who aren't getting paid much of anything. There are also writers who write more frequently, who are now making a few hundred dollars a month. How quickly you get to a decent earning level will depend a lot on how much content you add in the beginning, how well optimized your writing is, and how well you promote your own writing (in my section, I'm very hands-on with my writers' promotion efforts, and I've even just put together a site-wide test group to help all writers network-wide better promote their materials - so you wouldn't be left hanging in that department if you're accepted into the technology section). While the system can be slow to start, we're looking for writers who intend to be around for the long haul to push past that. The best part is that over time, you're continually paid over and over again for the same articles. You never stop earning on them as long as they're on the network. SUBMISSIONS To be considered, please email (it will be reviewed and then forwarded to me if all required materials are included) with the following information (required for all Suite writers; not just my section): 1. The topic you're applying for! 2. Brief background on your education, experience, etc. in that topic area. 3. Attach your full resume. 4. Link to or attach 2 published articles and 2 published blog posts, preferably related to the topic you're applying for. 5. A one-sentence descriptive paragraph of your topic for search engines and the same for each of the first four articles you plan to write 6. Write a 200-word welcome message for your first choice topic discussing what will be covered and using primary keywords I know that's a lot of information. You can visit www.suite101.com for more background using the "write for us" link - including if you're interested in topics not in the technology section (I have a few other topics still available, and several other sections are hiring as well). Or you can always feel free to contact me directly with questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. Jenn
