Hiring a Web Programmer

I don't know if this is the correct forum to post this in. If it's not, please move/delete it.

Anyway, I'm kind of in a loss as to how to go about hiring a talented and motivated web programmer so I figured what better place to look for one than the DP forums.

Anyway, I'm looking for someone (preferably in the NYC area), that will be responsible for creating an e-commerce website, maintaining it, and doing some search engine optimization. Anyone interested or have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Location shouldn't be a problem. Your best shot is trying to place an add in the daily or the post.

    Peace,

    Hello,
Here is correct, but you should give more information about plataform, do you need it under PHP, ASP, ASP.net, etc? :) My 2 cents

There is Programming sub forum (under Buy & Sell->Services) which would be most appropriate forum to post your requirement.
You can also try kasamba. See below.

As a Web-developer myself I strongly recommend to use widely known by IT people services like dice.com and monster.com. Also consider using HR companies. They will charge you for finding specialist average 10K USD but they can do really good interview process before candidate goes to your interview.

Truth be said, if you want support and reliablity, go with a web dev firm. I've done a ton of projects and followed through to the end with all of them but not all "contractors" do this... lots of times they are gone after the project is completed (in their eyes). Please go through a web development firm (might I suggest www.layeronemedia.com or you could hire me directly but if you want true support and reliability go through a real company and not a contractor you find on the these forums.

I will say though, lots of good contacts on DP ;) Never judge a book by it's cover - just my 2 centz :)
