I am adding my product descriptions in woocommerce on Wordpress and I see the empty content area just like a blog post but also below that I see a SHORT product description area. My questions is this. Does it matter where you place it? Will google penalize you for putting the same description in both places? Reason I ask is because the short product description shows perfect right next to the product to the right hand side without scrolling. If you put it in the larger content area then its hidden under the product. See here for my product and you see what I mean: http://cmfaclothing.com/shop/drive-fast-live-young-tank-top/
First of all, your site looks GREAT. I'm not sure if I've actually given you commentary on your site before -- I might have, but can't be sure. Either way, it looks really wonderful. But I noticed a couple of things I'd change that might really improve conversion. First -- try moving the social login buttons to be BELOW the product description. Typically, page elements like that are at the very top or the very bottom of a page. They're usually separate from the content in a pretty way, so having them kind of in the middle of your content on the page there is a little jarring. I was assuming that the content was over because I saw social login buttons...and was then a little surprised that your product description was under the social sharing icons. Here's why another approach might really help out. Not only do you have your visually appealing product image on the page as a very shareable piece of content...but if you write yourself a great product description -- something that REALLY gets attention -- then you add another social sharing incentive. By putting those social icons below the product description, you encourage sharing of both the picture AND the copy, which helps to strengthen your brand. And no, I don't think Google will penalize you based on the placement of your product description between those two text fields. I would, however, find either an eCommerce SEO professional or a WooCommerce developer and ask them. That shouldn't be hard to do by searching google for relevant blogs or looking around on Twitter for someone that you can just ask straight away. Second -- try adjusting the photos you've got on your home page. The intro to your site is awesome, and the first page really lands well. But the images that you have in that big, pretty image pane are a little distorted and stretched out. They also seem to have some kind of colored screen or tint over them. I'd get yourself some higher-resolution images and avoid messing with the color too much. That might really help you improve your bounce rate and drive a bit more conversion!
If the short description looks perfect right to the next of your product, then I would suggest you not to add the longer description. Let your products shine with the short description.
