I would take the word of the general public over that of a restaurant owner posing as a member of the general public. The trouble is, on the internet it's not easy to tell who is who. This is why there's a place for critics with a reputation to uphold (no matter how fat they are). http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6160075.html http://www.tsroadmap.com/info/bailey-reviews.html http://tropicalseo.com/2007/everything-you-need-to-know-about-fro-fake-review-optimization/
Great examples to prove a point! It would be very easy to find the Fakers on the site, because it is about negative responses and any positive sticks out like a sore thumb. If restaurant owners do post, then a redemption type of offering would probably work for them...instead of trying to be slick about it. LOL, all this talk and I still haven't posted on the site yet, and I've been to some crappy places.
You seem to be forgetting what this particular would be about. *negative* reviews. Yes, I am sure all restaurant owners would be willing to jump at the oppotunity to write a 'negative' review of themselves.
LOL. It could sound something like this. "Man I really sucked today. I know my food was shitty. because I made it and I suck." LOL. pity party post.
See, and that is how you now extend it. 1. Have a common place for the owner to reply and/or contact (e.g. 'redeem this review as owner' 2. with secondary idea implemented, now offer a 'fee' to place a coupon for redemption. everyone wins, we all laugh at the customer and owners drama.
hehe, there are just a lot of ways it could go. i guess it all boils down to the vivid imagination of the owner him/her self. (I kind of seem to have a knack for creativity and innovation)
I was thinking more along the lines of them writing negative reviews to discredit all of their local competitors. The bottom line is, you need some kind of system in place to detect and discourage this kind of thing, to make it useful.
I was acutally on this site the other day and posted something, and it looks like the owner reviews it or something, because my listing didn't display until the next day.
