I have the weirdest problem I have ever seen. I have five websites. I got kicked offline for about six months by two really bad storms. When I got back online I started rebuilding my sites. I have been working on them a bit but not as much as I would like. Once I got my personal page where I wanted it I added advertising and started to update my page. Now I can access one of my sites but not the other four. No http connections from my computer, no ftp connections and thus, no email connections either. The one site I can access has varied twice but I can access all aspects of them from my partner's computer with a different connection. Unfortunately with her connection two minutes without being booted is good. If I do indeed have a virus I also do not want to unwittingly put it on her computer. I cannot run Housecall and my AVG picks up nothing. Any ideas? Two of the tech sites I went to sent me to pay per call tech services, one is still wondering about it and thinking about what to do and one suggested I write zeros across the drive. I have DBan which is an awesome program but I would rather not wipe my hard drive again if I do not have to. Help? In twenty years I have never seen anything like this. Thanks Ward Tipton
It is either one of two problems the way I see it: 1. Do a test from your computer using a public proxy server such as HERE and if you can access your sites with it and if you can than it sounds like your host needs to Flush their firewall to Un-Block your IP so that you can access and the reason that I believe that is true is because your email doesn't connect either! A very common problem! 2. If you are having weird pop ups and happenings than you probably do have a virus or trojan of some sort in which case you can download a free version of Avast .com and do a boot time scan to get rid of them!. Good luck!!
Check your ports by a good port scanner and also check the vulnerability of your systems. i am pretty sure there are something with your own system but perhaps not a big deal this time.
it is a nice idea indeed to always keep an eye on your system ports as well as the vulnerabilities, since they play the major role in terms of your system security. The other thing that you could have done is to make sure that your anti-virus is updated regularly. For your problem all i can feel is that this might be the reason for a virus attack rather than anything else.
