Hi folks, I have a new client that wants me to revamp their website. However it is not accessable and they think after the domain ran out someone else bought it. I need to get it back but am not sure if this is possible.

Domain is www.friendsofyoga.org and it currently seems to be a portal page, if that's what you call them. I did a whois search and it says:

    Status: CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED

Registrar: InnerWise Inc. dba ItsYourDomain.com (R85-LROR)

    Expiration Date: 2008-05-23 13:00:35
    Creation Date: 2001-05-23 13:00:35
    Last Update Date: 2007-06-08 14:31:33

    Name Servers:
    ns1.searchpower.com
    ns2.searchpower.com

    Any ideas please?

Check back in a few days, the domain might be in tasting period. If the domain doesn't get traffic, they may release the domain, and it will become available to register.

I think it's past testing phase already and it's registred, expiry date is quite far back. It was bought at an auction with registrar directly and it wasn't even deleted. You can say godbye to it or buy it from new owner.

It's original owners fault for not renewing.

ok thanks for the replies, seems like bad news then. I'll see what kinda budget they have for possible buying back but would think they don't have those kinda funds available.

IF you go to the new owner, he probably knows that it was dropped by mistake. That is very common. It's like pimps waiting at the bus station for runaways.

If you contact them directly, they will try and "Jack" you. Use a third party, even if it's not a professional.
They will not give you a fair price if they know that you made a mistake and want it back.

    LOL love the comparison!!!

I would email the domain registrar and ask for the contact details of the new owner, mail him and try get it back ;)
