To whom it may concern, I have been reading through a plethora of DP posts for a while now, and it has come to my attention that many writers claim to earn unrealistic sums of money through their writing. More specifically, they claim that they spend their time writing carefully researched articles that end up selling for $100+ Some of them even tend to get aggressive when they hear someone questioning those claims. I personally fall under the category of nonbelievers. I can even take this a step further and state that I find such claims amusing - if not funny. Obviously, that's not to say that writing is a low paying job. I know of writers that make $1 or more per word. Then again, I am referring to professionals who mostly write for media giants, so I doubt that they would spare their "expensive words" here. Nevertheless, I have been wrong in the past, so I am willing to spend some time on a little experiment to prove my point. About me: I hold a BA with Honors on Business Management (UK) and a degree on Entertainment Marketing (US). I have extensive working experience (mostly offline but also online). Some previous positions held include the following: PR Executive (Gaming Industry (aka gambling) - London) Business Development Manager (Pharmaceutical Industry - London) Marketing Consultant (Entertainment Industry - Los Angeles) Some of my writing has been published and/or quoted on newspapers and several university publications. My offer: I am willing to sit down and write 1 article of around 500 words. The niche of the article can be anything related to business. Ideally, it will not be related to "making money online" since I don't consider myself an expert on that field yet. This article will satisfy the highest of quality standards and will most likely be up to par with articles that get published on high authority media platforms (such as CNN or BBC). I am not a professional writer per se. I am, however, a highly educated and experienced individual, who has written his fair share of articles (including but not limited to essays, marketing plans and various other business documents), so I can provide you with such an article. I will start working with the highest bidder as soon as this "auction" ends. About you (the buyer): You are a member with history in this forum and with a 20+ iTrader count. You will specify the niche as long as it satisfies the requirements as stated above. You can post or PM me with your highest bid for such an article. As I mentioned above, I am not a professional writer nor do I intend to become one. The only reason I am doing this is so that I can prove a point. I am sure that there will be several comments in this thread originating from the group of writers that I am questioning. Unfortunately, I do not consider a forum to be an appropriate platform to host a debate so I will try to ignore them. Since every forum is being moderated by a selected few members and those members have the right to impose penalties, the whole purpose of a debate is diminished in my opinion. I am not, in any way, implying that any of the moderators in this forum are not fair - I am just stating a fact that stands true for all forums. This isn't debate bait - I am just stating the obvious: DP is not the platform for this kind of 'little experiment'. People who are willing to pay $100 per article are not looking for writers on here. When I'm paying top dollar for articles - I don't have time to waste on taking chances. I go to elance or Guru - there they have a system in place. They have feedback and the writers have to jump through several hoops to even bid on a job. And btw, I consistently pay less than $35 per 500 word article for writers with much higher qualifications than you. So, just b/c you are 'highly educated' doesn't mean anything. There are tons of people who are. You've got to have a number of excellent writing samples AND references to expect that kind of fee. You haven't offered up any. I'll probably receive an infraction for this post - but I find your post condescending to DP members in general. Why should someone cough up so much $$ to serve your little experiment? There are tons of people on this board making ALL kinds of claims. If you want to challenge their claims about writing income, you are now aware of at least 2 other online places where the challenge is more fair.
