Ok, I have already made the site and all. My site is on native americans, the highest bid for that term is only 12 cents! Isnt that kinda low, lol. Am I doomed for failure or what? Can anyone help me? thanks
Want a quick answer, yes and no. Assuming you want PPC revenue since you posted about it: IMHO, this site is consuming 100% of your web page building time, they you are doomed. IMHO, if you have time to build other sites, no. You can build others while still pursuing your interests in this site, and driving more traffic to it. This is very un-PC, but having a wife that is legally 'native-American' I feel very comfortable saying Indians (unless Asian) is not a good topic for vast traffic. Our society is slowly wiping out any references of their presence, and soon all knowledge of them will be wiped out. So, might want to differently get broader topics for click-traffic. hth, tom
If the site has good content you could always augment it with some affiliate sales links. There's at least one Indian jewelry merchant at ShareASale.com and there's probably other programs with books/music, etc.
Things change over time; many advertisers have not yet discovered the web. So what you see today could change tomorrow. I figure a site only needs to make $1/month to pay for itself. Even if it doesn't generate any current income it will gradually acquire pagerank that you can distribute to other sites. As you gain experience you may figure out other ways to make money from the site. For example, maybe you could develop some native american posters. As you write more pages and look at your stats you may find you get indexed for words you didn't target and they may pay better. The first one of anything is a pilot study. So the next one you do will be better
I started out with a hobby site, on various topics that interested (only) me. It got indexed, which I thought was kind of funny. Its pages also picked up some nice page ranks. Then I discovered Adsense. Now I have a variety of sites with links from that original site, all generating (or getting ready to generate) Adsense revenue. So I'd say to hang onto your first site, and start building others with medium-price click topics. Good luck!
The thing is, I have chatrooms, message boards, dating and stuff like that on the site. So would the adsense have like on those pages dating ads, message board ads, etc? I mean can I add pages to this like a jewerly page or something and get jewerly ads etc, music page and get music ads etc? I want to make like 1000 a month with this site, is that possible? Thanks
Ok so what should I do, I feel this is going to be the hot new native american site which could draw quite a bit of traffic to it. So can I make money off adsense or what? Also I went to shareasale and didnt see any native ones, can you point me in the right direction, thanks for the help.
I think you answered your own question, if you have the traffic and ctr and you continue to make 12 cents epc, you might have something. Some people come up with good equations, but the one that seems to always hold true is: Traffic = More Revenue A rule that seems to hold true, if you are personally interested in the sites you create, you will create better quality sites (always viewing it from the visitors point of view). This way you can get repeat traffic, and some world of mouth advertising. One tip I've heard used, put up a message asking your visitors to tell two people about your site. Some people have claimed jumps in overall uniques per month after asking. hth, tom
Hey thanks for the reply. Yea, I mean now its 16 cents the highest from yesterday, lol. The thing is, if I have a message board page and all it wont be native ads will it? I think I can get like 5000 vistors a day to my site, I just want to make a few hundred a month you know, lol. Anyways you think I should give up or what, I hate to quit just because the max bid is only 16 cents, but cant I add other pages say a page called music and it have music ads etc? Thanks
12 cents a click will get you 300 dollars a month with a 5% click through rate and ~1700 visitors a day. With 5000 visitors/day you should be looking to be exactly where you are aspiring to be.
Thanks alot man, so with 5000 vistors and a 5% click through rate I would make around a 1000 a month? Thats not too bad, thanks for the reply.
