Higher PR on inside pages?

    Hi all,

I have a fairly new site which has a PR3 homepage but which has higher PR on inside pages. Even though only the homepage has backlinks.

Is this a 'normal' or 'common' occurrence?

It's not so 'common' but it is nothing very impossible. It depends of linking back to particular pages.

I think -- you have unknowingly linked those pages --and got backlinks for them. Or if they are really interesting --with good contents -then you might have got natural backlinks by way of other people book-marking or something like that.

    Anyway -congrats .

And by the way --you might check this directory too- that has home-page PR4 and inner-page PR5:eek:
http://www.romow.com --I must mention that it is not mine --and I just want to refer it for your question.

I have been wondering about the same thing. The last update was weird. Oh well, the next one is gonna happen soon. I hope results won't become more weird this time. :D

I've had similar results in the past, homepage rank of 4 and my links page and a few other subpages got a rank of 6! there was no obvious reason for it so I think sometimes strange things just happen with Google :)

My site has an index page PR of 4 with 4 other inner pages that are PR 5, yet when I look at the google webmaster tools and see the stats for my site it says that my index page has the highest PR for my site!

Now the question is, does this mean my index page will become either PR5 or 6 at the next toolbar update or will the inner pages move to PR4?

I guess we will see the answer in the not too distant future.

Does inner pages rich in text content? I believe that text contents can also increase PR.

    Hi Twelfty,

I had the same issue with a site of mine, heres the pattern:

    1st G update - HP was PR 3, inner pages were 2
2nd G update - HP was still 3 but inner pages were all 3 or 4's
3rd update - HP went to five and the inner pages didn't change much

So in my experience there is a good chance your HP will catch up with the rest of the site

Well, it happend some time. FYI the PR shown in browser is not the real one and Google resolve these kind of problems in PR update which they often perform every 3 months.

Next PR is expected within a week, so might be your home page gets PR4 or inner pages loose their PR.

It is normal, maybe inside pages have some good content that Google likes.

How come when you go to your index and then click the link to the history page it says PR0...but when you click the link from this forum to your history page, it says PR4.

Is it to do with the URL?

    http://www.cathealthcareguide.com/history.php gives PR0.
    http://cathealthcareguide.com/history.php gives PR4.

Also, how can you improve the overall PR of your website? Try and get back links to pages other than your index page?

    Thanks. Matt

you have to edit your htaccess file and u can also go to google webmaster area and put a preferred domain so if you put in your htaccess that w.e the user type it shud go to www.xx>>.com than select with www in google webmaster and you will have good pr flow
