In a SEO blog I read that high PR can be obtained once you have signed in adwords. Even some of the guys claimed that they got PR 2 within a month just before the PR update, owing to the reason that they had signed up with adwords. Is it true?
I don't think so, It will just increase your hits until your money runs out. I'm not too found of this way of advertising as it gives people unfair advantages.
Adwords has absolutely nothing to do with PR. You can spend $100K a month and it won't increase your PR. PR is 100% by backlinks to your site, and adwords or other javascript links aren't counted. The only way it could help is if someone clicked the ad and then decided to naturally place a link on their site pointing to yours.
I'd stop reading that blog... Will participation in AdWords or AdSense affect my listing in Google's free search results?
Yep. Typically FAQ's suck. The AdWords FAQ/Learning Center is by far one of the best I've ever seen. They cover A LOT of questions and continually update it with new questions and answers. Top notch all the way. ps - I linked to the Google webmaster section in the above post though - for once it wasn't the AdWords Learning Center!
i dont know if its true or not, all i know is that after I started using Adwords, my flash website within few months got a PR3, and some backlinking i did afterwards to only few small directory websites...
I observed similar pattern... I cannot say its true, but I ran ad words for 50$ and got PR5 in no time... could be good marketing too!
AdWords has nothing to do with organic results or PR. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=34428
