Higher PR - Better search ranking ????

Is this true ???

 

I think Yes.. in other words you can say Higher PR is a numeric result of higher search able. This is what our target is. So we always try to make our site more search able by getting more and more inbound links so as a result our site's PR increase.

 

This isn't necessarily true. Your pagerank has no relation with your search engine placement. But high PR sites USUALLY means that they are well established, have good backlinks, and are overall a good website...

You'll see lower PR sites beat higher PR sites in the SERPS all the time.

Yes PR is a relative measure of link popularity according to Google but link popularity is only one factor of SEO. Don't get obsessed with it

Not true, in fact one of my sites is pr = 0 and still higher on searches than many high pr sites, so how can this be true ?

Yes and no is the answer. Sorry but fact! I feel in some instances having a high PR does work, I have played around with a few sites with similar content and the higher pr wins 80% of the time.

However, any really well optimized low PR site will out score a higher less optimized one if all the right SEO boxes are ticked. Otherwise someone like Wikipedia would be on the number one spot for just about everything...wait a minute they are!

 

I say no... It would seem that pr only influences the rate or frequency in which your site gets crawled. It really has no bearing on anything else.

Its not true. It is possible that a new site with low page rank appears above high page rank sites among top rankings for certain keywords. I have seen many times it.

 

PR and ranking are two different things.. i see sites with no PR are ranked no 1 while PR4 are not on the same keyword..

 

Agree to you......Page Rank and Search engine ranking are different things and Search engine ranking is more important than PR.

No way.......PR shows the quality of a site.......and do not involve in selling or buying links........its violation of webmaster guidelines.

Seriously though, PR is a marginal indicator of how well you site fairs in general, perhaps within a given demographic. It doesn't however appear to influence the actual SERPS of a demographic. It stands to reason that a higher pr is better, but as others have mentioned, pr is 1/150th of the math involved in determining an actual ranking.

Things can be infered from your pr, but nothing can be arrived at with any certainty given a pr. Well, that last part is not entirely fair. If your pr is n/a for instance, you know its not indexed for example.

I seem to agree the most with libertygone.

If you have good PR-

1. Google will crawl your site more often because of large number of quality backlinks or incoming links. Having large no of quality links helps in terms of quick indexing by googlebot.

2. If your homepage has a good PR then it makes easier to get quality links. Doing link exchanges with other webmasters will be easier as well, since a lot of webmasters believe that the Google Page Rank tells them how legitimate the site is in the eyes of Google.

3. More links = good PR=more chance of people clicking your link.= more traffic to your site.

4.A high Page Rank of your site shows your site is an "expert" in it's field.

see page rank and ranking, both are different things. page rank is not related with ranking

higher page rank indicates that in the sight of google the content of your site is very nice and the site may be trustworthy ranking is different thing

achieving the ranking means geeting ranked in the SERP.

 

One of my websites that I started a while ago was receiving 20 uniques/day from google before the long awaited PageRank update in October. The first day the pagerank was updated I ranked higher in SERPs for all of my keywords and received 150+ Uniques/day from google. Pagerank is important for SERPs, but is in no way the only or the most important factor which will get you more traffic.

I simply don't understand all the people who preach differently as I have proof about it.
