Higher CTR = Lower EPC ?

I have noticed, through watching my different channels, that the higher my CTR, the lower my Earnings Per Click are. For example I had 66 clicks on one channel today, for earnings averaging less than $.31 per click, but another channel, focusing on the same keyword target, earned $1.21 for one click.

Has anyone else noticed this on their site?

I'm considering increasing the number of ads displayed on each page to decrease my CTR while keeping the number of clicks constant, in the hopes of increasing the earnings per click.

    Any ideas?

i think it depends on what ads was clicked. different ads got different cpc and some ads only cpm ads

and i don't think by increasing the number of ads displayed will decrease your CTR. increasing maybe, by accidentally click :p
    correct me if i'm wrong

Maybe not such a hot idea -- I recently did the opposite (reduced the number of adverts I was showing) and have just seen yet another record day go by. Remember that Google fills the adblocks with the highest paying adverts first, so in theory by having just one block which displays a single advert will guarantee you the highest possible EPC for that page...

However, (and this is a big however) EPC isn't everything -- and while the above may well have a great EPC, the CTR may drop significantly as you're showing a lot less adverts -- so there's a lower chance that a reader will see an advert that actually appeals to them, and click on it.

Ideally you want to have your first adblock in the spot that gets the highest CTR (use the heatmap for more info on that) as it will be this adblock that will have the highest paying adverts. Use your other blocks to fill secondary spots (at the base of a story for example).

Individual mileage will vary of course, but I saw very substantial increases by doing the above.
