I have a blog which has started hitting high amount of traffic. However I notice at times my server cannot cope with the traffic. I've started using the wp-cache and super-cache plugins, but neither solve the problem. Is there any other solutions, or anyone on here who has faced similar experiences recommend a dedicated webhost?
Its on your server, I would consider buying hosting with a more established dealer like 1and1.com or hostgator.com
Dean_Saliba: Im hosted on a VPS at the moment. thenetfool: I dont think shared servers will allow my site, as it will use use too much of the CPU resources, given that my current VPS cannot handle the traffic. I've just ordered a dedicated server now.
lol. I really need this kind of problem. I wonder what kind of website you are running that even a VPS can't handle it?
So what is this high traffic blog that you speak of, can we get a link, so that we can add to your stats.
Ive taken the blog down as of now as its rather embarrassing each time a high profile partner site is linking to me and the site goes down. My traffic is coming from a number of partnered sites linking back to my blog. The blog is being hosted on wordpress. Previously I had been using blogspot and had no problems with any amount of traffic, but self hosted wordpress is better for me as it opens a wave of extra options that are now being used. Any solutions on effectively reducing server load or any other tips will be really appreciated.
Are you sure 250,000 to 350,000 daily? You must be kidding me.. I dont think that your blog received that much of traffic, if the blog received that kind of visitors I am very sure that you will have it on a dedicated server before... Please prove ur traffic here or else, I will not believe it..I am sorry
Maybe he is meaning page impressions, rather different, although understandable that it would still cause a strain.
Its not page impressions, the sites that were linking to me have millions of registered members. I have not yet reached the figures mentioned but those are what I am being told to expect (at least) by the partnered sites. Each time the traffic begins to come in the server just dies down. Once full potential has been reached I'll gladly show you screenshots of traffic etc
oo..ok by the way do you advertise in the partner sites? how we want to achieve what you achieve now?
He's not going to give his secrets away!! You really need to contact your host and ask what the heck is going on cause your losing out big time..every hour your losing money. Also found a nice article you might wanna blog about on your Eduardo site saw it earlier: http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=615947
