my advice is to dump AOL they fill your pc with way to much crap for a connection,
then block images so no images download, that takes up most of your connection speed, if you wanna see the pics that matter, then click the view image option,
get an ad blocker thats another 20% of your connection speed used up, either hanging waiting for ad servers, or downloading the ad images.
use firefox with the adblocker you can block most ad servers in 10 minutes

that will gain you a lot of speed if you just follow them few tips.

56k is max either way, and if you are uploading to a site, just upload, do not surf while uploading, it takes less time then

I have to chime in on the whole moving thing. I am in the same boat and I am not willing to move because I can't get high speed.
Do you think that is really is really good advic?

I do what Samatha said and I turn all images to blurred so they don't tie up the loading of pages and my ISP has acceleration so the web pages load quicker. It does nothing for downloads or uploads but it is better than nothing. I use a program called Swiftload to download stuff because it will find the quickest port and if you lose connection, it will save what you have done so far.

Let me know if you find a faster system but I have tried for several years and no luck. I call Verizon three times a year to harrass them but still no DSL, they always feed me a line of BS about doing it in the next 6 months.

I was going to say the exact same thing. AOL is a load. Plus isn't it like twice as expensive as any number of other providers??

You don't have to get an N90 to use your phone as a modem — I use a cheap RAZR and it does the trick on the train home at night...
