High-Risk Business Payment Processing?

I was told that selling hookahs and shisha online is considered high risk?

Would that make it harder to get approved for a merchant account? Any suggestions for a more open merchant?

Many of the regular payment processors (such as 2Checkout and PayPal) and their acquiring banks have merchant policies that eliminate all high-risk items such as tobacco and related products.

You'll need to go to a third party processor or get a direct merchant account with an acquiring bank that specializes in risk management for merchants considered "high risk" in the processing industry.

I don't think that you will have any problems with 2CO for sure.

I'd recommend getting in touch with the customer care and getting a pre-approval though.

well if your volume is decent enough why not go for an actual merchant account? I dont know why everyone on this forum likes 2co so much the rates are too high for anyone selling decent volume
