High rank in MSN, does Google follow?

I have added some pages recently and got good rankings in MSN in a very short time. Can I expect the same from Google? I understand that Google isn't as quick to place new pages high in the rankings but would SEO that worked for MSN also work for Google?

No. Much harder / longer (in general) to rank as well in Google as it is in MSN.

What would you do differently to get Google listing without hurting MSN? My inline skating page is a couple weeks old but ranks #2 of 120,000 in MSN for inline skating news. Are there any tweaks need for this page or is it just a matter of waiting?

Add 100's of backlinks with great anchor text - and fresh content every day for G - then wait 6 months.

I have a site that's been #2 on MSN for one of my choosen keyphrases for at least 6 months. Its nowhere to be seen on Google. It takes a long times sometimes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be soon.

that's for debate ... does an older site have better content than a newer site?

no matter how you slice it ... unless you are optimizing for "inline skating news from site name" ... you have a wait ahead of you.
i ditto with the other comments ... always be adding content, adding links, wait 6 months ...at least.

if you are a mover and a shaker ... buy more domains, put up a bit of content on each, and toss them in coop ... just in case you will want to expand your business later.

    that's what i'm doing.
