    Computer Glasses and Its Benefits

In today’s world, the use of computer has become commonplace; and with the entire world converging into the virtual nest of Internet, more and more people are using PCs and laptops for their day to day use. If you are also one of those people who spend a lot of their time sitting in front of the computer monitors, you surely must have experienced the various kinds of computer fatigues that begin to bother a computer user after a while of usage.

According to a research, more than 70% of the total population of America that uses computer for extended hours in a day suffers from eye strain. And this problem is not limited to adults, but is quite common in children of all ages!

So, if you have a full time job that requires you to spend a large part of your time with a computer, or are just indulging in pure and simple social networking, chances are that once you start using a computer system for an extended period of time, your eyes experience a lot of unnatural strain. That is where computer glasses come into picture. Computer glasses are basically multipurpose progressive lenses and are formulated specially to make looking at the computer screen more comfortable.

The varying degree of contrast and definition of a computer monitor makes it more stressful for the eyes and places it under great strain while it searches for the “resting point of accommodation” (RPA). The continual flexing of the eye muscles when it alternates between trying to obtain the RPA and then again struggles to regain focus on the screen is the main cause of the strain that we experience in the eyes, head, neck and shoulders.

The shoulders and neck are the parts of the body that feel most strained after a long session on the computer system. Computer glasses will ensure that there is minimum head and eye movement and you will not have to continually move your head alternately far and close to it while trying to read text on the computer screen.

Often, computer monitors or screens are improperly placed because of space restraints at the work place or due to lack of proper information about the optimum accommodative distance of the monitor. This causes undue strain on the eyes, head, neck and shoulders. This is often the major cause for a medical condition known as Computer Vision Syndrome or “CVS”. The main symptoms include headaches, blurred vision, tired eyes, double vision, and loss of eye focus. Anybody who continually experiences one of more of these symptoms can be said suffering for mild to severe CVS.

Using computer glasses makes the text on the screen clearer, and thus easier to read. This will decrease the strain on the eyes and will lead to a marked decrease in the aches and pains of the neck, ultimately making you more productive. So, if you find a computer induced eye problem staring you in the eye, it’s time you started using computer glasses. __________________
