High quality links vs ressources pages links

I begin to think links on ressources/directory pages without relevant text and too many outbounds links are completely useless and i want to do now only links on relevant pages with a few links or even exchange pages.

Do you think it's a correct backlinking strategy to complete a good google ranking ?

Or do i need hundreds of useless links only of interest for bots ?

    My site is about travel/tourism/accomodation.

    Thanks for advices

Your 1st post and already you are talking sense :)

You are 100% correct; links on irrelevant resource pages won’t get you high rankings with G at all.

Get relevant links and try to get some links from authority sites in the "Travel/Tourism" niche.

Good luck in getting them… ;)

Many of us agree and exchange only relevant links in a logical presentation.

You might want to see the links pages on this site:

    www.chincoteague-island.net

They are categorized and hand coded, which seems to work well.

They may be categorised and hand coded, but they still won't count for much. You need to be aiming for links in large content blocks, the content being relevent to the target site.

content link within relevent site is the best. I don't even do massive directory submission anymore. Instead i buy blog post from relative blog

Perfectly said. I always looks for less outgoing links on page with relevant content.

My link exchanges which I categorize on a links page on my site, have helped my site get to #6 in google for a competitive term. As long as the links are related, they do help. I also receive a fair amount of targetted traffic from these links. I am pretty selective with my exchanges and only propose/accept links on sites that will benefit my site i.e. not too many links on page, links pages are categorized to some extent, links page is indexed, links page has some PR, etc. I don't do exchanges if my site will be buried in a non-relevant links directory.

However, I do agree, that related links on content pages are great if you can get them.

Try to focus on a wide range of link building. Swapping links with other sites still works but dont over do it.

Important part of internet growth, though incoming links are more relevant when you are not linking back.

Alternative: Multiple site owner are now doing 3 way links, improves incoming links, thus more relevant for the search engines.

You know like a 2-4 years ago you just swap as many links as possible with anyone and rank in google

I used to just swap with every gambling and viagra person , and in a couple months I would have site top ranking in google.

A couple of those sites still rank , but most are gone now, and if you do that with a new site , I think you might never rank.

For a long time people said that only relevant links where good, when in it was total BS, but now maybe it is true. I really prefer brute force style seo, trying to make everything relevant and tidy is a pain in the ass, so all this stuff makes me sad :(
