Writing posts with your link in sig or in post wont do much for PR at all... most of the pages will get saturated and result in a PR0 page...

I think i am some similar question. Like that DP as a example.

If a forum has PR5 then does all of its threads have the same Pr or will they have PR0.?

I know this is a little silly but still i have to get this doubt cleared.

Why signature have no effect. How Google know that it is a signature. For Google robots I think every link is just a link. It treats it in its way.

The thread could have pr5 but the pr juice would be split amongst all the links on the page, say 10 people reply all with 3 links in their sig, thats it split 30 ways. A thread with PR5 would more likely have 100's of replies.

you may be right but that particular page with PR5 can hardly have upto a maximum of 20 posts not 100 so how much juice could be distributed tell more!! Caffinephil

I am not sure that the juice will be divided. But even if the juice is divided my site will have a backlink of pr 5. And also if a thread has 100 posts then these posts will spread across many pages. Now each page can not have pr 5 . So the links that are on pr 5 page will be benefited.

I thought thats how it worked. 1 page with pagerank, the more links that appear on that page the less juice each link gets?

I have seen requests for paid links where people ahve said only from pages with less than 40 links.

Does anyone else have any views?

Yes, the more links there are on a page, the PR juice will spread thinner.

The benefits of a sig link are in branding and maybe anchor text benefits, but that's about it. You should use it to drive sales more than to drive link equity. For example when Auction Ads or Text Link Ads came out, the people who put it in their sig probably made some serious bank just by their referral network. There is more value in that than to build some mediocre link equity.

The links still count for something. So something is better than nothing.

well, if they aren't even giving any benefits even on a thread having a PR5 then whats the use if the juice they give won't help in increasing SERP rankings
